African American Association of Ghana and African Roots Travel Host Divine 9 x HBCU Meet and Greet with Attorney Ben Crump in Ghana

The African American Association of Ghana (AAAG) and African Roots Travel, proudly hosted a special Ghana Divine 9 x HBCU Alumni Meet and Greet hosting renowned U.S. Civil Rights Leader, Attorney Ben Crump. The memorable event took place at the newly opened 957 Daiquiri Bar located at A&C Corner in Accra, Ghana (East Legon).


The evening was a historic moment, as Attorney Crump and his delegation connected with fraternity brothers and sorority sisters who warmly welcomed them to Ghana. It was a powerful gathering of unity, legacy, and cultural exchange, demonstrating the strong ties between African Americans and the Ghanaian community.

Beyond the social interaction, the Meet and Greet served an important purpose—supporting Black-owned businesses within the AAAG network. The event spotlighted Jonathan and Shonda Reynolds, AAAG members and proud owners of 957 Daiquiri Bar, whose establishment provided the perfect backdrop for the evening's festivities. African Roots Travel and AAAG emphasized the importance of economic empowerment, showcasing the spending power of their members when supporting local businesses.

In addition to celebrating the 957 Daquiri Bar's success, the event featured community entrepreneurs like 501 Degrees, a dynamic Ghana-based apparel company specializing in Ghana-themed hats and streetwear. The team at 501 Degrees presented Attorney Crump with a custom-made commemorative hat, symbolizing the spirit of entrepreneurship and cultural pride of Ghana's vibrant business landscape.


The highlight of the evening came when Attorney Ben Crump addressed the crowd, sharing heartfelt remarks on the need for Africans and African Americans to work together in building self-reliance, economic strength, and solidarity. His inspirational message, calling for unity across the global Black community, was met with thunderous applause and standing ovations from the attendees.

To commemorate the occasion, the African American Association of Ghana Executive Board Members(President/Zeta Phi Beta), ( Maurice Cheetham/Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.), Tamica Atugba/Zeta Phi Beta, Erica Asamoah (Zeta Phi Beta), presented Attorney Crump with a special gift, honoring his distinguished service and recognizing his membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Maurice Cheetham (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc./FAMU Alumni), Vice President of AAAG, reflected on the significance of the evening, stating, "This is what makes AAAG special — a continued effort to build and strengthen our community both here in Ghana and abroad".


The collaboration between African Roots Travel and The African American Association of Ghana, created an unforgettable experience that not only honored a civil rights icon but also reinforced the importance of community, entrepreneurship, and unity in Ghana.
